Non-native speakers of English have to show that they can read, write, speak, and understand English, to be suitable to follow lectures, study, take examinations, and interact comfortably with fellow students, instructors, and the original population. For this purpose as well as for immigration, a standardized English language proficiency test for non-native English speakers has been established as an are-requisite for the selection process. There are two versions of the IELTS test IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. The purpose of both tests is different and the one you take will depend on the must-haves of the academic institution you plan to study in, your work professional, or visa conditions.
The test is of 30 minutes, and more time of 10 minutes is given for transferring the answers to the answer sheet. The applicants are tested on their capability to understand lectures and exchanges in colorful Western accentuation, primarily British.
The test is of 40 questions divided into 3 sections. The test is 60 minutes long anmeasuresures the capability of applicants to understand descriptive, factual, and logical passages.
In this test 2 tasks have to be completed in 60 minutes. Task 1 comprises describing tables, graphs, maps, and figures in a minimum of 150 words, and in a task 2 applicants are needed to write 250- word long essay on the given content. The donation of a task 2 to the total writing score is double of a task 1.
The speaking test is generally 11 to 14 minutes long and is conducted in a face- to- face interview format. This test has 3 sections, in the first section the inspector asks questions related to the campaigner’s intro, etc. In the alternate section the applicant is asked to speak for 2 minutes on general content and in the third section follow-up questions related to the content in a section 2 are asked.
